I had the opportunity to work with a small and passionate team at High Tea Music, a drum and bass music company that operates as both an event agency and a music label. Contributed to a variety of creative marketing tasks, including designing promotional videos, merchandise, and AR experiences. This internship provided hands-on experience in a fast-paced, artist-driven environment.
Tasks for the Project:
- Designing promotional materials, such as videos and social media visuals
- Creating merchandise designs for events and branding purposes
- Developing AR experiences to enhance audience engagement
- Collaborating with a team to support the company’s marketing initiatives
Intake Project: Poster Redesign
As part of my introduction to the team, I was asked to redesign one of High Tea Music’s existing event posters in my own style. This project allowed me to explore the brand’s visual identity while injecting my personal design approach. It served as both a creative warm-up and a way to align my aesthetic with the company’s tone and audience.
Halloween Promo Video
For High Tea Music’s Halloween event, I was given creative freedom to push boundaries and make something that truly stood out. The result: a highly stylized, over-the-top promotional video packed with dramatic effects, glitchy transitions, and intense pacing. While the final piece may have gone beyond what was strictly needed, it became a passion project that let me experiment with motion graphics, editing techniques, and atmospheric design
AR Synth Testing & Halloween Scenes
As part of an internal experiment at High Tea Music, I was tasked with testing a prototype software called AR Synth — a tool designed to make building augmented reality scenes more accessible for use at live events. My role was to explore its capabilities, identify limitations, and create several Halloween-themed AR experiences. These scenes were designed to enhance audience interaction during the event, blending spooky visuals with playful, immersive elements. The project allowed me to work hands-on with emerging tech and contribute feedback to help shape its future development.
Merchandise Design: Hoodie Concept
High Tea Music was looking for a fresh hoodie design to add to their merch lineup, and I had the chance to pitch my own concept. I aimed to capture the raw energy of drum and bass culture while keeping the design wearable and bold. This involved experimenting with typography, layout, and brand elements to strike a balance between streetwear aesthetics and the label’s visual identity. The project gave me insight into designing for physical products and the considerations that come with creating something people will actually wear.
USA Tour Social Media Post
For High Tea Music’s USA tour, I was tasked with creating an engaging social media post using greenscreen footage provided by the team. The goal was to turn the raw material into a visually dynamic piece that captured the energy of the tour. By experimenting with motion graphics, compositing techniques, and creative effects, I produced a post that stood out online while reflecting the label’s style and personality.
Additional Video Edits
Throughout my internship, I also worked on a variety of smaller video edits to support High Tea Music’s ongoing content needs. These included reworking existing footage, creating short teasers, and adapting videos for different platforms. While these weren’t major projects, they allowed me to stay sharp, work efficiently under tight timelines, and contribute consistently to the label’s visual output.
